WELCOME TO TLC!

Caring for End of Life Transitions in the Buddhist Tradition

“How many years have we struggled trying to establish the dharma, trying to teach, trying to learn? This program, TLC Transitional Life Care, is really trying to do that. It is for the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha; it is for the benefit of all beings.
I think it’s a good idea, help everybody open their eyes! This program
is for the Three Jewels – it is wonderful. I say, thank you.”

Spiritual Care and Support

TLC Transitional Life Care provides informal support through the process of dying to individuals,  families, caregivers, friends, and the community. We present educational programs and videos, workshops, and host support talk groups. TLC also offers a large variety of resources found on this website for those who wish to acknowledge and prepare for their end of life transition, all from a Vajrayana Buddhist perspective. All of our activities are motivated to support this.

Stephanie Crawford began her nursing career on a trauma and oncology unit at Stanford Hospital where she was introduced to the complexities of our current healthcare system, especially those related to end-of-life care. After witnessing many chaotic, traumatic and unprepared-for hospital deaths, she realized that dying could unfold differently. Wanting to help people prioritize comfort, meaning, and quality of life in their final days, she became a hospice nurse and trained as a death doula. Awakened Endings, her death doula practice, seeks to help clients heal death-related fear and anxiety by cultivating peace and ease through mindfulness, spiritual exploration, education, and practical planning. Stephanie also trains in Trauma-Sensitive Mindful-ness (TSM) and the Hakomi Method for psychotherapy. She believes in a world where dying is revered as a sacred part of life that unifies us in our experience as human beings.
